:oNotice the change in the forum. To make it more user friendly I have eliminated the various choices in the forum boards except for General Discussion. Any topic, comment or question can be left on this board.  Let me know what you think-is the change a positive one?

In our agency, our respites go to a variety of sites. For those unable to self-manage their medications, they receive respite services at a site where staff are med certified and inserviced on their medications. For those that are able to self-administer, they may respite in a site with a bit less support, but staff do not pass the medications. We tailor the respite site to the individual and the supports that are available.

Risperdal - Weight gain and breast engorgement have been noted side effects in this drug when used with children.  What are you seeing when using Risperdal with IDD/adults?  Roseann

I believe it means you can not start someone who is currently certified simply on thier paperwork. Certification needs to be current and then you need to to have the person do the pours (3) at your facility. We also require a documentation course be taken. If certification is not current-one year or less-they have to take the course again.

I am interested in speaking with a nurse who was able to attend the nursing conference.  I have questions in regards to the power point/update nursing.  Need information in regards to medication certifications and  not being transferable between agencies. Thank you.
